How to get realigned with your business

Updated: Oct 24

If I were to ask you to name the most important relationships in your life, what would you say? My guess is that you would name your partner or spouse, your children, your close friends, maybe other family members, maybe mentors or biz besties, and maybe for some of you your higher power. But would you include your business? As a business owner, I have come to understand that my relationship with my business very much belongs on that list. Now, I am not suggesting that my business is more important than my husband, family, friends and God. But it is one of the most important relationships in my life because it is the primary conduit through which I make a difference in the world. It is where I use my gifts and skills in service to others. It is where I invest my time, energy, effort and creativity. And if I’m not careful, it can pull me out of alignment, out of balance. As a business owner, there is no one telling me when it’s time to arrive or time to leave. No prescribed rhythm of the day telling me when to take breaks or what to focus on next. All of that is up to me. And you know what happens sometimes when things are left up to me. I sometimes fall back into old emotional survival patterns that no longer serve me. I get hyper-controlling or I overdo things. I exhaust myself sitting in front of my computer for 10 hours a day spinning my wheels on something that I could have hired help for. I briefly look up from my computer and give a dismissive “hi” when my husband comes home instead of getting up to engage with him. I feel anxious about taking time off because I’m afraid of “losing” income. We all have some version of this. We bring our unresolved emotional survival strategies into our businesses, just like we bring them into our important personal relationships. And if we aren’t paying attention, just like any relationship we neglect or ignore, our relationship with our business can begin to suffer. I don’t want that for you! I want to share a new resource that I have developed to help you stay aligned with your business vision and goals. My new Business Relationship Checkin can help you assess the current state of your relationship with your business and identify areas where you want to realign. Feel free to use it yourself or pass it along to someone you know who might need it! I’m so excited to share this new resource with you! I designed it with you in mind, along with the many other entrepreneurs I have worked with who are ready to take up space and get what they want in their businesses.

My blessing for you today is that you and your business would have everything you need to allow every aspect of your life to thrive.
